This site is built to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- No accounts, forms or email sign-ups. You never give us your name or contact details unless you email us.
- The VIN box runs in your browser. Decoding happens on your device. The VIN is only sent anywhere if you click "Check title history", and then it goes to EpicVIN, not to us.
- The free recall check sends the VIN from your browser directly to the US government's NHTSA public data services to look up the model, recalls and complaints. It doesn't pass through our server, and we don't store it.
- Hosting logs. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and protect the site.
- Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or track you across sites.
Affiliate links and cookies
When you click a paid link to EpicVIN, EpicVIN and its affiliate tracking system may set cookies on their site so the referral can be credited to us. Their own privacy policy applies there.
Other links
Guides link to government and third-party sites. We're not responsible for their privacy practices.
